Important Changes to NY’s Energy Interconnection Requirements & Distributed Generation (DG) Application Process
The following is a summary of recent changes to the New York State Standard Interconnection Requirements (SIR) and Distributed Generation (DG) Application Process for interconnection projects of less than 5 MW. DG projects include solar/photovoltaic, wind, hydro, micro turbines, fuel cells, and anaerobic digesters/biogas. Since the interconnection process alone can take nearly a year, it is essential to have a full comprehension of the entire project scope so you can successfully plan your DG project.
To assist our clients in understanding these specific changes and the interconnection process itself, the Energy Services team at Maser Consulting P.A. has created a summary of the New York State Standard Interconnection Requirements (SIR) and Distributed Generation Application Process. The full New York State Standard Interconnection Requirements (SIR) document can be found at http://www3.dps.ny.gov/.
Information covered in this synopsis includes:
- Application Process
- Utility Performs a Preliminary Screening Analysis
- Supplemental Analysis
- Coordinated Electric System Interconnection Review (CESIR)
- Construction of Utility Modifications
- Conditional Approval To Construct Distributed Generation (DG) System
- Utility Construction
- Utility Construction
- Authorization To Interconnect
- Final Acceptance/Utility Cost Reconciliation
Our team of Energy specialists has the expertise to guide you through the entire process of your Distributed Generation project from initial application to design, engineering, and construction.
