All Aboard Florida, State Route 528 Mobile LiDAR

City of Orlando, Orange County, FL

All Aboard Florida is an intercity passenger rail project being developed by Florida East Coast Industries, LLC (FECI) that will connect Miami to Orlando with intermediate stations in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. This rail service will provide Floridians and visitors with a viable transportation alternative to congested highways and airport terminals. All Aboard Florida will be the first privately owned, operated, and maintained passenger rail system in the United States.

Colliers Engineering & Design was contracted by AMEC Foster Wheeler to perform Mobile LiDAR acquisition and subsequent design survey creation for a seven mile stretch of the planned rail corridor. After the final data was adjusted and outputted, our professionals utilized the TopoDOT extraction software to compile 3D planimetrics and topography. 3D line and point features were then traced and draped directly over the point cloud. In addition, survey data for off pavement and obstructed areas was collected using conventional survey techniques and merged with the LiDAR information to create the final digital terrain model and Microstation design survey files.
