Meet Greg Stevens, PE Geographic Discipline Leader l Geotechnical

Gregory Stevens has built an impressive career managing multidiscipline design projects for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from client interface and public engagement to delivering comprehensive analyses, technical reporting, and project management across a wide variety of service lines. Greg has successfully led initiatives for high-profile clients including Florida Power & Light/NextEra, Lee County Electric Cooperative, Charlotte County Utilities, Duke Energy, the Florida Department of Transportation, and multiple county and municipal governments across Florida. Beyond project delivery, Greg is an advocate for advancing the engineering profession, currently serving as Vice President of the Florida Engineering Society and Chairperson of the Emerging Leaders Board of ACEC-FL.

Greg’s technical specializations encompass shallow and deep foundation design, berm stability analysis, transportation and land development projects, forensic investigations, sinkhole assessment, pond engineering, and pavement evaluation. A significant focus of his career centers on the energy sector, where he contributes to solar farm design, substation geotechnical engineering, transmission line infrastructure projects, construction materials testing oversight, construction engineering inspection, and forensic geotechnical investigations, supported by proficiency in industry-leading software including FB-Deep, LPile, Settle3D, and Geoislope Suite.

Greg’s passion for geotechnical engineering stems from a lifelong fascination that began in childhood. “What is not to love about dirt? Since I was a young kid, I have had an extreme fascination with digging and dirt. I am just lucky enough to have grown up and found someone who wants to pay me for it!” he laughed. This enthusiasm translates into his approach to complex projects: “I love collaborating with clients on complex, multidisciplinary projects. Leading a team of highly skilled professionals in their respective fields, each contributing toward a shared vision, is very rewarding. For me, it is tops to guide a collective effort to deliver high-quality solutions.”

For emerging geotechnical engineers, Greg emphasizes the broader impact of leadership beyond technical expertise. “As leaders, our impact goes far beyond designing foundations. We bring a unique perspective to the team that can influence the success of a project as a whole. While mastering the world of geotechnical engineering is essential, it’s equally important to grow as a leader and a visionary across all aspects of any project you work on. Then we elevate our profession and provide value to both our clients and the public.” Ready to lead multidisciplinary teams toward shared visions?
