Pier 35 and 36 Topside Repairs and Substructure Rehabilitation

Manhattan, NY

Waterfront Harbors/Marina/Piers/Ship Terminal

At Piers 35 and 36, topside rehabilitation work focused on restoring existing concrete and asphalt pavement across the pier superstructure. The improvements supported the continued use and long-term performance of these waterfront assets, where construction quality, documentation, and code compliance were essential throughout the repair process.
Our team provided resident engineering and special inspection services for the Pier 35 and 36 Substructure Rehabilitation, Topside Repairs project. The special inspection scope included cast-in-place concrete, concrete design mix review, concrete sampling and testing, flood zone compliance, subgrade inspection, and compaction verification in accordance with applicable New York City Building Code requirements.
Resident engineering services included on-site planning and coordination, communication with the New York City Economic Development Corporation and project stakeholders, and management of construction-phase documentation. Our professionals coordinated correspondence, progress reports, schedules, shop drawings, testing schedules and results, submittals, requests for information, and change orders.
During construction, our team oversaw inspection staff, scheduled and documented inspections, monitored progress and quality control, and prepared inspection reports with photographs when available. Completed work was reviewed for conformance with the plans and specifications, and final project records were organized and turned over to NYCEDC at the conclusion of the assignment.
