Bringing a Lakeside Landmark Back to Life
This historic bathhouse along the shore of Lake Ontario had served the public for decades, but aging infrastructure, an outdated interior layout, and worn exterior elements meant it was time for a comprehensive rehabilitation. The project included a full interior remodel with new flooring, walls, bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and a redesigned reception area. Exterior improvements addressed masonry repairs, a new roof, and refreshed landscaping, while the building’s electrical, plumbing, and heating systems were fully replaced and updated to meet current codes.
The goal wasn’t just to fix what was broken. It was to restore the facility for continued public use while respecting what made it worth saving in the first place.
Preservation With Purpose
Our team began with a full architectural and structural assessment of the existing building, identifying what needed attention and what could be preserved. From there, we developed construction documents and a detailed cost estimate to guide the rehabilitation process. Throughout the design, particular attention was given to maintaining the building’s historic character while improving its usability, energy performance, and visitor experience.
The result is a facility that feels both familiar and renewed, ready to welcome the next generation of visitors to the Lake Ontario shoreline.
