NYS Police Mid-Hudson Regional Crime Laboratory

Town of New Windsor, Orange County, NY

New York State Police have provided police services at Stewart International Airport since the 1970’s in an on-site airport building that housed the regional crime laboratory. However, this building had reached the end of its useful life, so the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and the NYS Police reached an agreement whereby PANYNJ would fund construction of a new crime lab. The new facility, consisting of a 10,000 SF single-story building with ancillary space to house both the lab and related site work, will receive, process, analyze, and store criminal evidence.

Colliers Engineering & Design provided full site design services, including site layout, grading and drainage, utility, erosion control plans, and construction details, for the new lab, as well as construction administration. Required spaces within the building include laboratory facilities, and evidence receiving, and storage (evidence vault). Other related spaces include a gas- tank storage room and staff dedicated spaces include men’s/woman’s toilets/locker rooms, break room, staff and management office space, conference room, and file storage. In addition to the building, the site required an access road and water and sewage utility service.
