Former Elberon School Site Remediation

City of Long Branch, Monmouth County, NJ

Retained by the Long Branch Board of Education and the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (NJSDA) to perform a preliminary investigation and site remediation for the former Elberon School in Long Branch. After determining that the costs for the excavation and off-site disposal of the buried refuse far outweighed the long-term maintenance and monitoring associated with capping the refuse, the decision was made to remove the refuse from the site.  The project also included an asbestos and lead assessment and demolition plans and specifications for public bidding to remove the existing school building.

Our professionals oversaw the environmental remediation of the site and completed the required construction administration for the building demolition. Colliers Engineering & Design also provided full-time monitoring of smoke testing and periodic monitoring of the installation of the vapor mitigation system placed under the entire footprint of the new building.
