Benjamin Franklin Bridge Emergency Pavement Repairs

City of Camden, Camden County, NJ

Colliers Engineering & Design provided construction administration and construction inspection services for emergency pavement repairs to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The project, which was completed utilizing around-the-clock shifts on two consecutive weekends, included milling the existing bituminous surface and subsequent full-depth asphalt pavement removal in areas of specified pavement distress. The existing orthotropic steel deck was sand-blasted, cleaned, and waterproofed using Stirling Lloyd’s Eliminator Waterproofing Membrane System. Paving of the repaired areas of the bridge deck was completed using a proprietary polymer modified waterproof asphalt wearing course known as Rosphalt. At the end of each weekend, the pavement was re-striped and opened to traffic.
