The movie theater industry is not competing with other theaters anymore. It is competing with the couch. Regal Greenway Grand Palace in Houston addressed that reality head-on through a two-phase renovation that transforms every part of the guest experience, from the moment someone walks through the door to the moment the credits roll.
Phase One: The Auditoriums
Eighteen auditoriums were retrofitted with luxury recliners, with layouts carefully planned to maintain clear sight lines from every seat. Specialty formats were introduced: 4DX, featuring motion-activated seats and environmental effects for multi-sensory immersion, and RPX, offering the theater’s largest screen with uncompressed surround sound in both 2D and 3D. These are not gimmicks. They are reasons to leave the house.
Phase Two: Everything Else
The lobby, concessions, and corridors received modernized finishes and ADA-compliant renovations. An underutilized retail space was repurposed into a vibrant arcade and gaming area that extends the entertainment experience beyond the screening. Digital poster cases along the promenades keep the environment current and dynamic. The project is part of a broader collaboration spanning Regal locations in Houston, Boise, and Hunt Valley, bringing a consistent elevation of the moviegoing experience to markets across the country.
