Sun Streams Solar
Maricopa County, AZOur firm provided comprehensive civil-related design and documentation for a 5,500-acre utility solar facility near the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant, followed by a 3,500-acre expansion. Our services included rezoning and entitlement, detailed drainage analyses, grading and earthwork design, and preparation of construction documents.
For the expansion, we conducted extensive hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations using FLO-2D modeling software to analyze 100-year peak flow rates and determine existing washes and floodplains. With multiple FEMA regulatory floodplains crossing the property, we identified high-hazard areas to avoid and potential locations for solar arrays, incorporating adequate pile height and scour protection.
We prepared civil-related documents for rezoning and entitlement efforts, including site plans, preliminary grading designs, drainage reports, and traffic evaluations, all permitted through Maricopa County. The combined estimated power production of these facilities is approximately 1,000 MW, sufficient to power 830,000 homes. Our team’s expertise in civil design and permitting has been crucial in maximizing efficiency and minimizing costs for these significant solar energy projects.
