SR 9/I-95 PD&E

Broward County, FL

PD&E study of SR 9/I-95 from south of SR 858/Hallandale Beach Blvd. to north of SR 822/Sheridan Street with the intent of increasing capacity at the interchanges of I-95 and Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Pembroke Road, and Hollywood Boulevard and Sheridan Street. Under a subconsultant agreement, Colliers Engineering & Design is evaluating the potential modification of existing entrance and exit ramps, and the potential addition of collector-distributor roadways serving the three interchanges within the project limits. The collector distributor roadways would exit I-95 via braided ramps and run parallel to 1-95 to their destination roadways. Widening and turn lane modifications will also be evaluated along Hallandale Beach Blvd., Pembroke Road, Hollywood Blvd., and Sheridan Street to facilitate the ramp modifications proposed at the interchanges.

The study also evaluates how feasible and viable it is to replace the two at-grade access points, as proposed in the PD&E Study recommended alternative, with braided ramps over the I-95 mainline. Other scope includes typical section analysis; roadway design alternatives including horizontal and vertical alignment analyses and evaluation, and the design of another braided ramp alternative that will have the express lanes access point coming from the Sheridan Street Park and Ride lot, similar to that of the Broward Boulevard Interchange; structural analysis of all bridges within the project limits to determine the type of bridge improvements needed, type of new bridges, span lengths and pier locations; alternative concept plans; and construction cost estimates for the braided ramp alternative.
