Sharon Station Roadway Improvements

Upper Freehold, NJ

Our team of Resident Engineers provided construction, engineering, and inspection services for the reconstruction and widening of approximately 1.5 miles of Sharon Station Road in Upper Freehold Township. The project aimed to address congestion and safety concerns through the addition of three new ramps, a roundabout, and a center grass median with a concrete curb on both sides, necessitating full-depth roadway construction.

Temporary and permanent traffic signals and highway lighting were installed to ensure smooth traffic flow and increase visibility. New roadway irrigation at the roundabout and drainage systems throughout were required, as well as manufactured treatment devices to improve water quality. Additionally, three county bridges were replaced, and two new retaining walls were erected to address the roadway’s vertical profile.

This project was executed in three phases and required extensive utility communication and coordination. The end result was a safer thoroughfare with a marked decrease in traffic at peak hours of travel.
