LEGOLAND

Town of Goshen, Orange County, NY

Colliers Engineering & Design provided comprehensive engineering services for roadway improvements associated with the construction of the LEGOLAND New York theme park on approximately 153 acres of a 523-acre site in Goshen, NY. The park includes rides and attractions, an aquarium, theaters, restaurants, a hotel, and other various facilities associated with its operation and management. The project also encompasses approximately 5,000 parking spaces, including 70 bus parking spaces.

Our professionals prepared traffic impact evaluations including all traffic projections, capacity analysis, and identification of mitigation measures for over 25 intersections and the NYS Route 17 mainline as part of the SEQRA review of this major regional entertainment attraction. We designed significant off-site roadway and structural improvements to accommodate the increased traffic, including ramp improvements, traffic signals, roundabouts, new acceleration and deceleration lanes on Route 17, retaining walls, and a new bridge over Route 17. We conducted subsurface explorations and soil testing associated with the improvements and are currently providing construction administration and inspection for their implementation. In addition, our professionals also conducted a Phase 1 Environmental Assessment for the entire 500-acre parcel, including subsequent inspections and observations of demolition and remediation activities.
