East Aurora Fire Station

East Aurora, NY

Our professionals provided design and engineering services for the new East Aurora Fire Station.

We helped explore numerous potential sites within the historic village of East Aurora before a location was finalized for the new fire station. The station is located across the street from a church which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as at the gateway to a long-established residential neighborhood. The building is designed to fit comfortably within its community context. The Bergmann team incorporated materials that blend with the limestone of the historic church, as well as roof forms that align with the residential neighbors.

The building received a LEED Silver certification. Clerestory windows in the apparatus bays provide abundant natural light, often eliminating the need for artificial lighting. Permeable asphalt paving was used in the parking area, negating the need for a detention pond on site. The corner radio room provides line of site toward the apparatus apron, entrance sidewalk and parking areas which ensures safety for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
