Provided master planning, conceptual design, soil erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management design, construction administration, and landscape and lighting design for this 150,000 SF Costco Wholesale building and gasoline station located along the Barnum Island Channel on Long Island, NY.
Formally occupied by a fuel terminal operated by the Exxon and Gulf Corporations, the site had significant constraints that included contaminated soil and groundwater, unsuitable soils for standard foundation systems, failing bulkhead structures along the Barnum Island Channel frontage, and close proximity to the Long Island Railroad R.O.W. Creative solutions to address the building foundation systems and address environmental and stormwater quality measures were required to obtain the necessary local, county, and state entitlements.
