Waterfront Village

Rome, NY

Municipal Building

The City of Rome, NY, established an 84-acre redevelopment zone along the Erie Barge Canal to revitalize its underutilized waterfront district. The project incorporated a wide range of infrastructure improvements, including upgraded streets with new curbing, pavement, and landscaping, as well as utility extensions and bulkhead walls. Public waterfront access was enhanced with the addition of floating docks and trail extensions, creating a vibrant space for community engagement and recreation.
The master planning and design efforts for this initiative were led with precision, ensuring alignment with the city’s vision. Our team led the approvals process with clearances secured from NYSDEC, ACOE, SHPO, and USF&W through an Environmental Assessment Report that achieved a SEQRA negative declaration. The team worked closely with multiple consultants and stakeholders to deliver this fast-tracked project within a seven-month schedule and the city’s budget constraints.
This redevelopment effort has helped to redefine the waterfront district and has set the stage for long-term economic growth.
