Belmar Boardwalk Redevelopment Area Designation & Redevelopment Plan

Borough of Belmar, Monmouth County, NJ

Conducted a redevelopment investigation in February of 2013 after the devastating damage wrought by Superstorm Sandy resulted in the entire boardwalk and its five pavilions being declared a total loss. The Borough had already committed to reconstructing the boardwalk in time for the 2013 summer beach season, but redeveloping the pavilions was an additional challenge. The Borough-owned property along the beachfront was subsequently designated as an Area in Need of Redevelopment.

Our professionals developed a draft redevelopment plan enabling the Borough to use the option of a public-private partnership through a redevelopment agreement to reconstruct one or more of the pavilions to provide the high level of services and waterfront experience for which Belmar is famous.
