By Colliers Engineering & Design

Colliers Engineering & Design is pleased to welcome Michael Stormer, PE as the new Highways & Traffic Engineering Department Manager in the firm’s Toledo office. With more than 30 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering, Stormer brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the team, with a vision for growing the firm’s presence throughout the state.

A University of Toledo graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Stormer spent 28 years at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), with his final 20 years as a District Planning Engineer for ODOT District 2, which covers Northwest Ohio. He then transitioned to the Lucas County Engineer’s Office, where he served as Chief Deputy Engineer for over five years, overseeing design, permitting, stormwater, GIS, right-of-way, and traffic operations.

“After spending more than three decades in the public sector, I was eager to take on a new challenge – one where I could apply my experience from the inside and help shape solutions from the private side,” said Stormer. “I’m excited to build upon Colliers Engineering & Design’s existing footprint in Ohio and contribute to the success of our clients and communities.”

Throughout his career, Stormer has been involved in several high-profile transportation projects across Ohio. He played a key role in the LUC-75 at IR-475 Systems Interchange Reconfiguration in Central Toledo, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state at the time, which improved safety and capacity along a critical corridor. He also contributed to the US-24 Fort-to-Port Project, a transformative effort that upgraded US-24 to a four-lane divided highway between Napoleon and Maumee, enhancing connectivity and freight movement between Ohio and Indiana. Additionally, Stormer was instrumental in the SR-25 at IR-475 Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project, which was the first DDI in metro Toledo and only the second in the state, significantly improving traffic flow and safety at a vital regional junction.

“Mike’s deep-rooted experience in Ohio’s transportation sector and his ability to foster strong client relationships make him a tremendous asset to our team,” said Mike Gramza, PE, Highways & Traffic Engineering Geographic Discipline Leader. “His leadership will be instrumental in expanding our capabilities and providing high-quality solutions to our clients.”
