Building the Future: How Colliers Engineering & Design is Strengthening South Florida’s Transportation Landscape

By Colliers Engineering & Design

South Florida is growing at a rapid pace, and with that growth comes an increasing demand for innovative, well-planned infrastructure. At Colliers Engineering & Design, we are meeting this challenge head-on by strategically expanding our Transportation team. With the recent additions of Adam Maze, PE, as Highways & Roadways Department Manager in Boca Raton and Cliff Bouchereau, PE, as Bridges & Structures Department Manager in Miami, the firm is doubling down on its commitment to the region and setting the foundation for long-term success.

Their leadership represents more than just growth – it’s a forward-thinking strategy to build a powerhouse team that will drive transportation excellence in Florida.

People-First Growth

Adam and Cliff bring a wealth of experience to their roles, each with a clear vision for how they plan to enhance Colliers Engineering & Design’s presence in the South Florida transportation sector. But for both, success is not just about winning projects, it’s about building the right team and fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and long-term growth.

“I previously worked with most of the South Florida Highway Design Team throughout my career, and there always was a strong sense of collaboration and a shared drive to do great work,” shared Adam. “The opportunity to once again work with this same core group provides the prospect to build upon that foundation while expanding our impact throughout the state, particularly with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).”

His focus is clear: strategic, managed growth. Rather than chasing every opportunity, he is taking a methodical approach, ensuring Colliers Engineering & Design pursues the right projects and builds long-term client relationships that align with the company’s strengths. “It’s not about throwing darts at a wall,” he explained. “It’s about thoughtful expansion – understanding where we add the most value and making our presence known in the right places.”

Cliff, who leads a Bridges & Structures team, was drawn to the firm for similar reasons. “The energy and desire to grow is what excited me about this role,” he said. “It’s not just about technical work; it’s about building something sustainable – developing the right team and creating the right culture to be successful in the industry.”

A key part of that sustainability is attracting and retaining top talent. “We’re looking for people who embrace challenges rather than shy away from them” Cliff said.

“It’s not just about having bridge design experience, but you need the energy and the drive to constantly learn, problem-solve and innovate.” Adam echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Colliers Engineering & Design isn’t just offering jobs, it’s creating an environment where employees can grow their careers, engage with the industry, and become part of something bigger than themselves.

Beyond technical skills, both leaders are looking for individuals who understand the value of collaboration and client service. “We want engineers who are not only great at what they do technically but who can also communicate, engage with clients, and help us expand our reach in the industry,” shared Adam.

South Florida’s Unique Challenges and Opportunities

South Florida’s transportation landscape presents unique challenges, including rapid urban development, increasing congestion, and the need for sustainable infrastructure solutions. Both Adam and Cliff recognize that navigating these complexities requires more than just technical expertise. It demands strong relationships, innovative thinking, and a deep understanding of the region’s evolving needs.

“The demand for highway expansion is undeniable, but we also have to think beyond just adding more lanes,” said Cliff. “There’s a growing conversation around alternative transportation solutions, and as a firm, we need to be part of that discussion.”

Adam echoes this sentiment, emphasizing that FDOT is increasingly focused on quality. “The common theme we hear from FDOT across the state is that they want high-quality deliverables and strong client service. That’s where we excel,” he explained. “We have a solid reputation in South Florida, and now it’s about taking that same level of quality and experience and making our mark statewide.”

A Vision for the Future

The road ahead for Colliers Engineering & Design’s Transportation group in Florida is ambitious but focused. In the short term, Adam and Cliff are working to strengthen existing client relationships, expand their teams, and establish a presence in new FDOT districts. In the long term, the goal is to position Colliers Engineering & Design as a leader in transportation design throughout the state.

“We want to get to a point in this market where we can be more selective and get to strategically leverage our skillset on opportunities,” said Cliff. “This would put us in a desirable position where we’d get to do more work that best aligns with the firm’s core values.”

Adam agreed, adding that growth must be sustainable and intentional. “The opportunities are coming, and we want to be ready for them,” he says. “By building the right team and maintaining our reputation for quality, we’re setting ourselves up for long-term success, not just in South Florida, but across the entire state.”

For Colliers Engineering & Design, this isn’t just about two new hires, but about building a legacy of transportation excellence in Florida. With strong leadership, a commitment to quality, and a focus on developing top talent, the firm is well-positioned to shape the future of infrastructure in the region for years to come.
