Shravya Markandeya Joins Colliers Engineering & Design

Expanding our Presence Around the Nation’s Capital

Colliers Engineering & Design is pleased to announce that it has hired Shravya Markandeya, PE, PTOE, PTP, IMSA II as a Geographic Discipline Leader of Highways & Traffic Design for the Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia region. With over 16 years of experience designing and leading traffic engineering and transportation planning projects in in the Northeast and Midwest Regions, she has led teams of professionals that include traffic engineers, section managers senior project managers and project managers.

“I am excited to be building the presence of Colliers Engineering & Design in our Capital Region,” Ms. Markandeya said.

Ms. Markandeya has worked for Departments of Transportation throughout the Northeast and Midwest, with notable projects including LaGuardia Airport, Ashville Airport, Niantic River Bridge, and MassDOT Complete Streets. In 2019, she was named as a Top Young Professional in ENR NY and also received recognition from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New York as its Young Professional of the Year. In 2020 she was recognized by New York State Society of Professional Engineers (Westchester/Putnam Chapter) as the Young Engineer of the Year and  In 2021, she received the Rising Star award from the Zweig Group.

Always being open to new learning opportunities, especially when it comes to the growing technology field, Ms. Markandeya has received many higher education degrees and certificates. She earned her bachelor’s in civil engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India, a Master of Engineering in Transportation Systems Engineering from Cornell University and is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. She has also received professional certificates from Harvard University and Florida Atlantic University.

Ms. Markandeya also is an active graduate of the Harvard Business Analytics Program, serving as an ambassador since 2019 and a Social Thought Leader. She is also a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council. She has been featured in publications for the International Transportation Engineers, International Symposium on Highway Geometric Design, and the 23rd World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems.

“As engineers, our job is to identify a problem and create a solution, that is one of the reasons I continue to pursue education and see how I can improve the field,” said Ms. Markandeya. “There are so many skills that can be utilized to better the industry, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
