Colliers Engineering & Design, a national multi-discipline and leading engineering, architecture, consulting and design firm, is pleased to announce that it has hired Nick Zembillas as the National Business and Market Development Lead for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Utility Services. With a career spanning over 42 years in both the public and private sectors of Transportation, SUE and Consulting, Mr. Zembillas brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

During his tenure with the Florida Department of Transportation, Mr. Zembillas pioneered the Joint Project Agreement, reducing construction delays and claims. In the private sector, he played a crucial role in developing a global SUE business practice, later merging with Cardno Limited in 2008. Known for his significant contributions to the introduction and development of many other global SUE standard, various Utility Damage Prevention committees, key industry memberships, and active involvement in international research studies, Mr. Zembillas is also a distinguished member of various professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers, Subsurface Utility Engineering Association, American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials, Transportation Research Board, Common Ground Alliance, and more.

Among his recent accomplishments, Mr. Zembillas was awarded the Damage Prevention True Hero in 2020 by the Subsurface Utility Engineering and Utility Damage Prevention industry.
