New York Avenue Streetscape Improvements

City of Union City, Hudson County, NJ

Designed and managed the construction of a roadway and streetscape improvement project spanning 48 blocks. This multi-phase project included the construction of ADA compliant curb ramps, roadway resurfacing, decorative concrete sidewalks, street lighting, and shade trees along a densely developed collector road into the Lincoln Tunnel. To expedite construction and enable the City to obtain multiple contractors, Colliers Engineering & Design assembled construction documents for New York Avenue Streetscape Improvements into four separate bid packages. In total, this multi-phase project has resulted in the installation of over 400 decorative street lights and more than 600 shade trees.

Colliers Engineering & Design’s project planning and daily presence enabled the City to coordinate construction activities with residents, business owners and utility companies. The completion of New York Avenue Streetscape Improvements intersected with construction of the new Colin Powell Elementary School. Through proactive communication the Firm was able to coincide the completion of New York Avenue Streetscape Improvements with the opening of the new school.
