This federally and New York State-funded project is located on the Hunts Point Peninsula in the Bronx, New York, aiming to improve access between the peninsula’s commercial area and major transportation routes, including Sheridan Boulevard and the Bruckner Expressway. The project’s scope encompasses the Amtrak/CSX railroad corridor running parallel to these key roadways.

Our firm was engaged by CSX Railroad to review all proposed plans, facilitate essential railroad agreements, and provide Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) services. These services ensured the project’s safe and efficient execution while meeting all railroad requirements.

The CEI services we provided were extensive, covering pre-construction coordination, thorough reviews of critical submittals, on-site supervision of key construction activities, and management of railroad-provided track protection services. Our firm worked closely with the Design-Build Railroad Coordinator, addressing challenges such as limited track protection resources and coordinating with adjacent projects.

This collaborative approach was instrumental in expediting approvals, resolving conflicts, and ensuring smooth project progression. Our firm’s expertise in railroad coordination and protection of railroad assets throughout construction demonstrated our value to CSX Railroad.
