I-69/I-475 Interchange

Flint, MI

This infrastructure improvement project involves the reconstruction of I-69 from west of the Fenton Road bridge to Dort Highway (M-54), including ramp rehabilitation at the I-69/I-475 interchange. Key upgrades include high friction surface treatments on I-475, ramp taper modifications to meet MDOT standards, and a redesigned median drainage system for improved performance.

Bridge rehabilitation spans seventeen structures and includes seven deck replacements, two superstructure replacements, and preventive maintenance on five bridges. Repairs addressed epoxy overlays, deck patching, steel beam and substructure repairs, and slope paving. Pedestrian fencing and mesh panels were replaced, and repairs for Constraint Induced Fatigue were detailed for six bridges.

Beyond structural work, the project includes lighting and signing upgrades, guardrail replacements, and geometric adjustments to enhance safety and traffic flow. Our team developed a comprehensive Transportation Management Plan (TMP) and implemented innovative traffic maintenance strategies.
