Data Center & Electrical Room

Lansing, MI

Liquid Web’s expansion led to multiple data center projects, culminating in a third facility that transformed an existing warehouse into a dual-purpose site. Approximately 25% of the space is dedicated to offices—featuring enclosed and open workspaces, conference rooms, break areas, and mechanical/electrical rooms—while 75% houses the data center and electrical infrastructure.

Originally designed as a Tier 4 facility, the project included dual utility lines, redundant UPS and generator systems, and critical infrastructure such as eight UPS systems, 10MW generators, and multiple switchboards. The modular design allows bay-level isolation, with each section operating independently via dedicated UPS systems and dual power feeds.

Our engineers developed a strategic phased implementation plan aligned with projected load requirements and growth timelines, coordinating with the local utility company for substation upgrades as the facility expanded. The design integrates slab-on-grade foundations, overhead cable trays, and split cooling systems to support long-term scalability.
