Waterway Structure Careers for Engineers: Kyle Kuebler

With over 9 years of experience in large heavy-highway and waterway/hydropower infrastructure projects and dual degrees—a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Clarkson University, Kyle has established himself as an accomplished project manager with expertise across the full spectrum of engineering solutions. His unique combination of 5 years in construction project management and engineering, plus 4 years in structural project management and engineering, delivers professionally engineered and constructible design solutions.
Kyle specializes in hydropower and dam structural inspections, assessments, and designs including dams, gates, gate lifting structures, and penstocks. His comprehensive expertise encompasses owner’s engineer oversight of construction implementation, construction engineering design for temporary structures and dewatering systems, and design constructability reviews. He has successfully led complex structural inspections of waterway infrastructure, managed dam gate and hydropower rehabilitation projects, and designed structural steel dam gates and lifting frames for distinguished clients including NY Power Authority (NYPA), NY State Canal Corporation (NYSCC), NY Department of Transportation(NYDOT), NY State Office of General Services (NYSOGS), and US Army Corp of Engineering (USACE).
His passion for water engineering stems from his lifelong fascination with construction and the unique power of water, including the complexity and individuality of waterway structures where “no two are exactly the same, each project we work on is different which keeps it interesting, challenging, and rewarding,” said Kyle. Among his proudest achievements is the successful design and implementation of a custom rail-mounted gantry cranes for lifting hydropower intake gates, a project he guided from conceptual design through construction commissioning that exemplified client satisfaction with well-engineered solutions. What Kyle values most about his role is working alongside some of the industry’s greatest minds and mentors within a collaborative Water group at Colliers Engineering & Design, which shares his commitment to excellence, hard work, and passion for delivering innovative engineering solutions.
