Performed a dam inspection for the YMCA to verify a prior consultant’s finding that the dam should be reclassified from Class “A” (Low Hazard) to Class “C” (High Hazard). Upon completion of our studies, Colliers Engineering & Design was successful in maintaining the Low Hazard dam classification. This afforded the YMCA significant savings in engineering, construction, and maintenance costs.

Our team prepared an inspection and maintenance plan and an emergency action plan in coordination with a High Hazard dam at the same camp. After Hurricane Irene, Colliers Engineering & Design obtained an emergency authorization from the NYSDEC to repair storm damage to the spillway and outfall stream. Our Landscape Architecture Group worked with the YMCA to design an amphitheater into the dam’s embankment. Colliers Engineering & Design provided Value Engineering working through dam restoration alternatives with the YMCA.
